I'm starting my first read-through of "Leia's Story"! Wheeeee! :)

ETA: omg, parts of this are so TERRIBLE!!!

So, I still haven't touched "Leia's Story" since November, and I think I'm finally ready to see if it's salvageable. Since most all of you on my flist are authors in one form or another, I would like to hear your approaches to the first draft read-through ( Read more... )

Today I am going to read through "Leia's Story" for the first time since November. I literally have not even opened the file since the 30th. Wish me luck! :)

I feel like I had an on-again, off-again relationship with this year's novel (novella, really). At times, I really liked it; at others, I felt like I was forcing all of it. I think Leia's Story can be turned into something I'm proud of, with some heavy editing ( Read more... )

I am officially done with NaNoWriMo!! My 50,000th word was "flirt." The book stands at 50,041 words. I added a few scenes after writing the real ending--scenes which may or may not get cut later ( Read more... )

Wheeeeeee! This is now really interesting, since my story decided to climax at 38,689 words. Dunno if I'm going to go back in and write filler, or just make a ridiculous epilogue that I know I'll cut most of later. I've just crossed 40K and can maybe get another 3 or 4K before I reach the big "the end", so we'll see what I end up doing. I'm going ( Read more... )

This story is sooooooo not going to make it to 50K. I'm going to have to write an "extended epilogue" that I know will be cut after NaNo. ;)

Just wrote 1400 in one go. I know, I know, and after all that pouting. It was a fun scene idea and easy to write. ;)

ALSO. I hit 25K. I'm halfway done!!! *dances*

So, I really don't care for my story anymore. At this point, I'm writing for my wordcount. The jokes still feel forced, the characters are blah, and I'm pretty sure I can't stretch this out for another 25K. I'm not enjoying the writing and I don't know what to do with the story anymore.
